*** This is a working draft that has not been officially approved by the GOP Entertainment Group.*** Artist's technical rider -- binding part of your engagement contract, please return as soon as possible, no later than 4 weeks before first rehearsal -- Dear artist(s)! We (the technical crew of the GOP theatres) are looking forward to working with you at the GOP. In order to guarantee everybody's safety (yours, ours and that of the audience) and to ensure efficient, relaxed rehearsals and an optimal performance, we need you to provide us with information about your act and its technical aspects. Even if you think your performance does not have any particular requirements, please take the time to read and fill in the following questionnaire. Missing information and lack of preparation causes delays in our rehearsal schedules (which are pretty tight to begin with) and will create unnecessary stress for your fellow artists and yourself as well as for the house crew. Remember: relaxed people are more fun to work with! Please note that this rider is a binding part of your contract; if your failure to provide the required information leads to a cancellation of your act or otherwise impairs the quality of the production, you may be held liable. * General information Name:_____________________________________________________________________________________ Type of act:______________________________________________________________________________ Email: ___________________________________________________________________________________ Phone: ___________________________________________________________________________________ Please provide us with both phone number and email address so that we can reach you if we have questions. * Fire precautions Any use of fire on stage requires the permisson of the technician in charge. Please consider writing a cue sheet with times, musical or visual cues for scene changes and brief scene descriptions. This will lead to more efficient programming and helps us to "nail" your cues precisely right from the start. * Audio/video media Do you provide audio, still images and/or video material to be played or shown during your act? YES/NO If so, please adhere to the following recommendations: For audio tracks, use only uncompressed formats if possible. Even if you don't hear the problems with low-bitrate MP3 files, we do. Audio CDs, or .wav/.aiff files are preferred. Strictly no AAC, WMA, Quicktime audio or anything with Digital Rights Management. No cassettes or tape - this is the 21st century. Still images for projection: please provide the highest resolution you can obtain. Preferred formats are PNG, TIFF, BMP or JPEG. Videos: please provide either standard video DVDs without copy protection and region code, or bring computer files (preferred codec is MPEG2; no Quicktime, please). For all computer files, you can use either CD-R, DVD+/-R or USB stick. Label all media clearly with your name and contact information. You help us a lot if you write up the cues for each track, too. For example: "John Doe, vertical rope performance. Track 1: start when I touch the rope. Fade out as I'm climbing down. Track 2: optional applause music" Please enumerate all the media you are bringing. Name: Type (video, image, audio): Format: Cue: __________________ ___________________________ ___________ __________________________ __________________ ___________________________ ___________ __________________________ __________________ ___________________________ ___________ __________________________ __________________ ___________________________ ___________ __________________________ __________________ ___________________________ ___________ __________________________ If you edit your own audio or video on your laptop and you can bring the editor software without too much trouble, please do so. Have the original project files with you if possible (not just the final product), so that changes can be made if necessary (for instance, to correct sound problems or at the request of the director). For audio, please don't over-compress. Avoid "mastering" or "loudness maximiser" plugins unless you know what you are doing. Material that sounds great on your computer's speakers may be very unpleasant on a large theatre loudspeaker system. * Electricity and electrical safety Keep in mind that the grid voltage in central Europe is 230 volts at 50 hertz, and that you may need an adaptor for your plugs. * Do you bring your own electric equipment for use on stage? YES/NO If so, please list each device below and specify whether it should be controlled by the theatre lighting system via DMX/analog 0-10V interfaces or dimmer (use the Notes section). Device: Input voltage: Power rating in Watts: Notes: __________ ______________ ______________________ __________________________________ __________ ______________ ______________________ __________________________________ __________ ______________ ______________________ __________________________________ __________ ______________ ______________________ __________________________________ Make sure that your appliances comply with the safety regulations of the European Union. Check for a "CE" or "GS" sign on the unit close to the cable or on/off switch, and keep the device in good repair. If in doubt, ask for assistance once you're here. Be sure to ask the local crew before plugging your gear into a socket in the theatre. A circuit intended for stage lighting can cause your equipment to malfunction or even damage it. * Other issues (special effects, haze, fog, wind, snow, lightning, thunder, safety considerations, etc.) ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ * Any questions? If anything in this rider is not clear to you or you would like to talk things through before you get ready for the GOP show, let us know and we will get in touch. * Would you like a technician to contact you in advance? YES/NO If your requirements change significantly after you have returned this rider, please send us an update. Thank you very much for your cooperation. We hope you enjoy your engagement at the GOP! Yours, [names and photos of all crew in all houses]
